Services of the Prophet's Mosque for people with special needs and the elderly

The General Administration for the Service of People with Disabilities at the Agency for the Care & Management of the Prophet’s Mosque strives to provide exceptional and comprehensive services for individuals with disabilities, reflecting the Kingdom’s commitment to serving this group and meeting their needs at the Prophet’s Mosque.

Here are the key efforts and initiatives undertaken by the administration:

Equipped Prayer Areas:

Number of Prayer Areas: A total of 10 prayer areas have been equipped and distributed throughout the mosque.

  • 3 prayer areas in the northern expansion.
  • 3 prayer areas in the western expansion.
  • 3 prayer areas in the eastern expansion.

A dedicated room for the deaf and mute.

A dedicated room has been allocated on the western rooftop of the mosque, accommodating up to 100 people, where they can perform prayers and follow the Friday sermon through sign language.

Field Services:

  • Designated Parking: Special parking spaces have been provided in the agency building to facilitate access for people with disabilities.

  • Free Wheelchairs: A total of 2,500 free wheelchairs are available and distributed through the Gates Management Office at Gate 7.

Equipped Facilities

  • Electric Elevators: Two electric elevators have been installed on the eastern and western sides (Gate 9 and Gate 33) to lift people with special needs to the rooftop.

  • Ramps: Ramps have been designed next to the mosque entrances to facilitate wheelchair movement.

  • Restrooms: Special restrooms have been equipped for the elderly and people with disabilities in all facilities. Additionally, shelves have been installed in the women's restrooms to facilitate childcare.
